Well the sad thing is I couldn’t even give it 3* if you are in the pyramid. I used a travel agent, expecting them to have the knowledge I didn’t. Partly I have to blame our travel agent, as we were told all our accommodation would be 4/5*, and up until we reached the Luxor in Vegas it had been. We stayed here for four nights at the end of an amazing trip. Stayed at Luxor 10 years ago, and remember it being nice. The bar tender at one of the video poker bars was inattentive and borderline rude. All cushioned seating around the small pool was "reserve only". There was no hair dryer (standard equipment for any motel) and despite three calls to ask for hairdryer, it arrived 7 hours later - no explanation, just "sorry for delay". Upon arriving in our new room in the tower (which was at least 21-century standard) we discovered it was not properly prepped as evidenced by a bag of the previous guest's personal belongings that was left behind. After calling to be upgraded (not for free, mind you) it took almost an hour. It smelled like someone smoked in there for 20 years and then died. The room we were placed in had peeling wallpaper, decrepit furniture, dingy windows and everything else - we didn't get a deal or anything - this was at over $200/night. The bell desk took forever to check and return our luggage and broke something in the process.
